Woody & Chloe Take Over Sebastian

Family Fun Night

Just whom you may ask are Woody and Chloe? Well, they are none other than the stars of a series of books by Kentucky author Leigh Ann Florence. Woody is a real-life black & tan miniature dachshund. While Chloe is red-headed miniature dachshund and co-star of The Woody series. Leigh Ann Florence has published 7 children’s books and 1 adult-inspiration book. She has a Masters in Music Education and taught in public schools for 7 years. Some of the awards she has received were the Jessie Stuart Kentuckian Librarian of the year as well as the World Association of Newspapers Best Literacy Project for “Mr. Dogwood Goes to Washington”. Mrs. Florence and her husband/manager Ron presented the program “5 Ways to Be Successful” for the entire school during special class times. During their visit, the students met the real-life dogs along with partner, Mr. Ron Florence, who also assists Leigh Ann with the powerpoint and the pups. Leigh Ann shared 5 ways for the children to improve their writing and be a better student while achieving higher grades. The students at school also had the opportunity to meet the real life “Woody and Chloe” as they came in complete with little sunglasses to the musical theme of “Who Let the Dogs Out” which we all loved. Later that evening at 5:00 the FRC hosted a “Family Fun Literacy Pizza Party” for our caregivers to come back to school enjoy a meal together with Woody & Chloe. Meet and greet time afterwards gave each student a paw print and a chance to pet the lovable 4-legged friends they had just made as well as a chance to purchase a book.
