6th Grade Happenings

Ms. Montgomery’s 6th grade class has been working hard.  We began our expressions and equations unit in math and began a new English Language Arts curriculum, Wit and Wisdom.  12 class members are competing in a 4-H informative speech tournament, speaking on a variety of important and interesting topics such as bullying, parenting, basketball, shoeing horses, and Carl Sagan.  All students wrote short one-act plays as part of the Kentucky HEAL Jackson Writing Project, led by Rae Goodwin and Jackson native Brent Watts. We all enjoyed reading through the hilarious or dramatic plays. Our class showed good growth on our MAP tests, and we are confident that we are ready for K-PREP in a few short months.  The girl’s basketball season has ended and the boy’s season is wrapping up in a few weeks.  We’ve not been outside much because of the cold weather, but we enjoy playing basketball or talking to friends in the gym for recess.  Last, we wish to send out a sincere thank you to the Board Office and Maintenance for our classroom’s new carpet and dry erase boards!
