5th grade students have started the new year off to a great start. All the students choose a word to focus on as a New Year’s Resolution. For example, one student chose “brave” as her word. Other students chose words such as kindness, confident, and organized. They also wrote an action plan of how to reach these goals successfully.
Our class had a guest writer 2 days this week. He talked to the students about the importance of our Appalachia culture. Each student wrote a skit and then shared with the class. Some were humorous while others were serious. The students really enjoyed this activity.
We’re working hard each week trying to meet our goals on ALEKS, Reading Plus, and Study Island. Students are also encouraged to read AR books. Our next AR celebration will be around the first of February for students who have 50 points.
