We would love to welcome Zachary Miles Eiserman to our Breathitt High School Team. Mr. Eiserman will be teaching Integrated Social Studies, English I, and English II. He is a BHS graduate and attended HCTC, Transylvania University, and Morehead. In addition to academics, he worked in Transylvania‘s Writing Center as a staffer and course-embedded consultant, and participated in groups such as German Honor Society and The Holleian Society.
When asked about joining the BHS team and his goals Mr. Eiserman commented, “I am an lover of languages ancient and modern, and hope to share the power that language holds when used effectively. My goal is to help students understand that their own individual perceptions of and capabilities within language and writing help to contribute to and shape the larger discourse surrounding the subjects. Through this, I hope to give them the tools to reshape that discourse in a way that suits the conceptions of language they wish to project. I am excited to join the BHS team, as I truly feel like the deep cultural roots of Breathitt County and BHS are worthy of preserving. Rather than shy away from their Appalachian heritage, I strive to show students that it is this cultural basis that has developed within them traits such as resilience, dedication, and an understanding of the value of family and community. I hope students leave here feeling proud to share that heritage, and use it to inspire positive material and social change both in their own communities and wherever they may journey in pursuits of their own goals.”
We are excited to have Mr. Eiserman as part of our BHS family!
