Attention students, parents/guardians, staff, and community members:
I would like to thank all of the students, parents, guardians, caregivers, staff, and community members for the hard work and dedication they have put into the last few weeks of school.
Once again, according to the Kentucky Department of Public Health metrics, Breathitt is listed as a “yellow” county, so we will continue with our hybrid/blended learning model. In-person learning will continue during the week of October 19, 2020, for those students who chose that option. School-Based Virtual (Online Students) will continue with the same process they have been using. It is very important that all students participate in each class every day whether it is online or in-person. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school.
Students or staff should stay home or be sent home if any of the following occur:
Contact your school nurse if it is unclear whether your child should stay home.
Announcement 4 (Food Service)
We will continue to offer our weekly food box program at each school. Meal pick up days are Wednesdays from 11 AM until 5 PM. Children age 18 and under can register online on our website, on Facebook, or by calling the school bus garage. The meal pickup at Breathitt High School is now behind the Central Office building located on Court Street.
Announcement 5 (Transportation)
When buses are picking up students and the red lights are flashing, please remember to stop because our students’ lives are so important. If you have any questions regarding the transportation of your children, please call the bus garage at 606-666-2339.
The new emergency administrative regulation from the Department of Public Health, signed by Governor Beshear, requires those responsible for students – parents, guardians, or other caregivers – to notify their child(ren)’s school(s) within 24 hours if a student tests positive for COVID-19. This new administrative regulation went into effect on September 28, 2020.
Please continue to follow us on our website and social media pages for the latest updates. We will be making a school decision each week on Thursday at around 8 p.m. If you have any questions, please call the helpline at (606) 693-4908 to leave a message, or call your child’s school.
Stay safe, practice good social distancing, and have a great evening. Mask up, Breathitt County Schools!
