Pandemic EBT Program

We are pleased to announce some great news for the kids and families of Kentucky and Breathitt County! The state and district have been approved to participate in the federal Pandemic EBT Program. This program is intended to help families offset some of the cost of meals for children that would’ve otherwise been consumed at school, but couldn’t due to school closures related to the COVID 19 pandemic. If you receive SNAP, Medicaid, or KTAP, the benefits will show up automatically on your EBT card or a new one will arrive in the mail. It is a one time benefit of up to $313.50 per eligible student in the household. Others that don’t receive those benefits can apply starting June 1st. More specific information on how to apply will be provided soon.

Summer Feeding Program

Tuesday, May 26th will bring some changes to our meal service and the Summer Feeding Program. Friday, May 22nd will be the last day for home deliveries as well as the last day for meal pickups at HTS and MRC. There will be no feeding on Monday, May 25th due to the Memorial Day holiday. Beginning on Tuesday, May 26th - there will be 31 sites for meal pickups across the county. The program will operate typically from Monday - Friday and students will receive lunch for the current day and breakfast for the following day at any of our site locations. Please visit our Breathitt County Schools Facebook page or district website for route listings and times in your area. You may also call the Breathitt County Bus Garage at 606-666-2339 to place orders or to be added to the list for delivery at a specific mobile meal pickup site. If you would like to schedule pickups at Sebastian Elementary instead, you may call the school at 606-693-4956. Please place your orders by 9 AM, if possible.
