Subject: AmeriCorps Positions Open - Immediately
What: We are recruiting community members to serve as AmeriCorps tutors in Breathitt County High School. Members serve full-time hours at the high school, serving in classrooms as well as before and/or after school to provide 7-12th grade students with assistance in math and/or language arts.
Commitment: Members commit to serving full-time hours (approx. 40 hours/week) from March through July, providing camp-like activities in the summer months.
Qualifications: Applicants should have completed some college, but a college degree is not a requirement. Desire to serve in the school setting to help students improve academically. Applicants must clear an extensive background check.
Benefits: Members receive a monthly living allowance of $1248.38 per month. Upon successful completion of service, members receive an education award of up to $2960 which can be used to further the member’s education or to pay back qualified student loans. Additionally, health care is available and childcare assistance, if eligible. Service in AmeriCorps does not affect a members receipt of most federal benefits, including food stamps and HUD.
