Dear Breathitt County families,

During his press conference this evening, Governor Beshear recommended to all districts that schools remain open on Friday, March 13 and then cease all in-person classes beginning on Monday, March 16.

Based on this recommendation:

  • There WILL BE school  tomorrow, Friday, March 13.  It is critical that students are in attendance so that teachers can distribute materials such as usernames and passwords to be utilized during our non-traditional instructional days.  There are currently NO confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Breathitt County or Breathitt County Schools.

  • School will be closed beginning March 16 through March 27.  NTI days will begin on Wednesday, March 18 and continue through Friday, March 27.  There will be no in person classes for students from March 16 through March 27.

  • Monday, March 16 and Tuesday, March 17 will be teacher work days.  Teachers and instructional assistants should report to their respective schools by 8:00 a.m.

Because the situation with the coronavirus is continually evolving, changes to this plan may become necessary.  Please follow the Breathitt County Schools website, app, and social media accounts for updates and additional information as it becomes available.

In conjunction with the local health department and other health organizations, we will re-evaluate the situation on March 27.  Please continue to adhere to CDC guidelines and Governor Beshear’s recommendations regarding social distancing, hand-washing, and good hygiene.  For additional information, please visit kycovid19.ky.gov.

This information will also be available on the district webpage and social media accounts.
