The Breathitt County School District is pleased to announce that, based on the recommendation of the interview committee, Mrs. Jessica Howard has been named Guidance Specialist for the district. Mrs. Howard began job duties on January 4, 2021. The Guidance Specialist will provide district-wide mental health services to students and staff.
Mrs. Howard is a 2005 graduate of Breathitt County High School and a 2020 graduate of the University of Kentucky with a Social Work degree. She will graduate with her Master's Degree in Social Work in May 2021.
Mrs. Howard brings years of experience to the position. She completed her practicum and served as a Care Manager for the Crossroads Crisis Center. As a Care Manager, Mrs. Howard conducted group and one-on-one therapy sessions as well as provided patients with case management services.
“My helping heart wants to help those around me, which led me to my passion for Social Work. Meeting people where they are and helping them grow into the best versions of themselves is my main goal in life,” stated Mrs. Howard. Her favorite quote is from The Lorax, “It's not about what it is. It’s about what it can become.”
Mrs. Howard resides in Breathitt County with her husband and 3 sons.
