Jackson, KY, July 14, 2020 – Breathitt County Schools, located in Jackson, KY, has partnered with Varsity Brands, the market leader in team sports, school spirit, and achievement recognition, on a multi-year agreement with their school partnership program, IMPACT, including a rebranding initiative for the district and all area schools.

Breathitt County Schools first teamed up with the Varsity Brands family through BSN SPORTS at Breathitt County High School in 2018. Seeing the value of true partnership, in February 2020, the district committed to a collaborative effort with Varsity Brands and its divisions– BSN SPORTS, Varsity Spirit and Herff Jones – to build school pride, student engagement and community spirit. Superintendent Phillip Watts is focusing on the rich history of Breathitt and dedicating best efforts with this vision statement in mind:  Graduates Prepared for College, Career, and Community.

One way the district is aspiring for excellence is by working with school branding experts of VIP Branding through the Varsity Brands IMPACT Program. All schools received a new and refreshed brand that would build excitement and pride among students, faculty, alumni, and the greater Breathitt community. Breathitt County Schools is excited to unveil their refreshed brands and to elevate campus environments through facility branding products.

“We know that a dynamic brand can create excitement among the student body, faculty, parents and community. With Breathitt County Schools, we had the opportunity to help develop not only their district, but every school within it,” says Helen Price, Vice President of VIP Branding. “Helping schools develop that brand is what we do best. It is part of our business culture, as is our belief that strong school spirit can help create better futures for students.”

Below are quotes from the District Principals involved in the project:

“Creating a brand for our school was a great experience.  We are very happy with how our logos turned out and look forward to using them going forward. We have never had a brand before, so we are excited to be able to have a logo that is unique to only our school.” - Jason Fugate, Marie-Roberts Caney Elementary School Principal

"Working with stakeholders at Sebastian Elementary on the new branding was such a rewarding experience.  We were able to get input from parents, students, and teachers.  I am so excited to show off Sebastian Elementary’s new mascot and logos during the upcoming school year." - Jeremy Hall, Sebastian Elementary School Principal

“The powerful aspect of the HTS branding process was seeing the kids get excited about having a voice in the selection of an awesome new mascot and lettering for our school.” - Sabrina McElroy, Highland Turner Elementary School Principal

“It was great going through the process and having an opportunity to help develop a new look for all the great accomplishments taking place in the Breathitt County School district.”-Charles Davidson, Breathitt High School Principal

“It was an honor to work on the branding project.  The people of Breathitt County have a true passion for their schools and the district.  Their pride was evident as we collected feedback from principals, parents, and students to create and develop the word marks and logos.  I am thrilled with the final product! “-Hack Hudson, Literacy Coach
