Special education refers to a range of educational and social services provided by the public school system and other educational institutions to individuals with disabilities who are between three and 21 years of age. At Sebastian Middle School, special education teachers collaborate with teachers and students with disabilities for classroom success. This collaboration includes an individualized education plan for each student as well as accommodations in the classroom. Modifications to assignments and tests ensure student success is commesurate to peers in the classroom. Special education is designed to ensure that students with disabilities are provided with an environment that allows them to be educated effectively.
