The Breathitt County School District currently participates in the following national foodservice programs:

Afterschool Snack Program - SMS via 21st Century Grant
Summer Feeding Program - TBD
Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program - HTS, LBJ, MRC
The Breathitt County School district and it’s foodservice employees are dedicated to providing nutritious and well – balanced meals to all students and faculty. We currently provide meals to approximately 1,935 P–12 students across the district. Our foodservice staff consists of 27 certified cook/bakers, 5 part-time custodians, and a Registered Dietitian.

Public Forum

There will be a public forum open to everyone on January 24th at the Breathitt County Board of Education board meeting at 5:00 at Breathitt High School.  Any comments regarding the 2016-2017 Nutrition & Physical Activity Report Card are welcome. The report card is posted on the district website and can be found by clicking the department tab at the top of the page and scrolling down to food services/nutrition. Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program Awarded to
Breathitt County Schools for 16-17 School Year!

Highland Turner, LBJ, and Marie Roberts – Caney Elementary schools were each awarded the Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program grant for the 2016-2017 school year. The food services and nutrition department use grant monies to purchase healthy fruits and vegetables to be served as snacks outside of the regular breakfast and lunch meal service times. Every student at each of these schools receive a free and nutritious snack every day. Our students really enjoy this program and healthy snack!


MealViewer Software

Breathitt County Schools and its foodservices department are pleased to announce the release of a nutritional software mobile application called MealViewer to our school community. This software will allow you to access breakfast and lunch menus for your children’s school up to 30 days in advance. Calories, fat, and carbohydrates will also be displayed for all menu items. The MealViewer application is also great for receiving school announcements and information about events happening at your school. The MealViewer mobile app is available for iPhone and Android smartphones and can be found at the following links below:
