By voting FOR the Equivalent Nickel Tax, property owners will pay a property tax rate of 62.7 cents.
By voting AGAINST the Equivalent Nickel Tax, property owners will pay a property tax rate of 65.2 cents.
The recall election for the equivalent nickel tax passed by the Breathitt County Board of Education will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2017. Support your kids and grandkids by giving them the best opportunity to grow, learn and succeed in this area, by supporting the Breathitt County Board of Education and the Equivalent Nickel Tax. The equivalent nickel tax will enable the Board to repair and/or replace old, dilapidated buildings and ensure that our students are learning in the safest, cleanest, most modern facilities possible.
The Breathitt County Board of Education has lowered or maintained the property tax rate in twenty-three (23) of the last twenty-seven (27) years. Now, in order to make much needed repairs and address outdated facilities, the Board is asking for your support.
Many of our neighbors have passed the equivalent nickel tax allowing them to build new schools for their students. Our students deserve the same opportunity! Support the Board and the Equivalent Nickel Tax so our students can learn in the best possible environment, reaching their full potential!
