The Breathitt County School District is seeking sealed bids for the following surplus school bus - FRI/THO 66 Passenger Bus; Year 2000 Model with 123,448 miles.  Bids will be accepted until Friday, August 14, 2015; at 9:00 AM, at which time they will be publicly opened and read in the Central Office Conference Room located at 420 Court Street, Jackson, KY.  The Board reserves the right to reject any and all bids in the best interest of the School District.  With questions regarding the bus, please contact Steve Banks at 606-693-4925.

KTC AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS TO BHS STUDENTS

William Todd Brewer, a 2015 graduate of Breathitt County High School, has been selected to receive a full scholarship from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to pursue a civil engineering technology degree at the Bluegrass Community and Technical College.

Andrew Rose, a 2015 graduate of Breathitt County High School, has been selected to receive a full scholarship from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to pursue a civil engineering technology degree at the Bluegrass Community and Technical College.

The scholarship, established in 2009, has been awarded to many exceptional students from throughout the state. Currently, the scholarship is worth $11,000 for an Associate of Science in Civil Engineering Technology. Students are offered the opportunity to work for the Cabinet during summer months as well as full-time employment upon graduation. Students are chosen based on performance in high school, ACT scores, aptitude in math and science, and an interest in engineering as a career.
